I've grown as a student a lot in this class. I take my advanced classes more seriously. My peers push me to do better and makes me happy. The AP course has made me stay on my stuff and/keep and turn everything on time and put more effort in to mu things. Another thing it has helped me a lot in is when i get timed. Apparently those timed essays helped me in other things when it comes to timing. (but i still never my essays on time)

Through out the year I've learned many things. One of those things was writing essays. And booooy i tell you,i HATE WRITING  ESSAYS. (sorry Mr.Thomas) I think my weakest essay was the argumentative essays. I tried using the "H.E.L.P" strategies but it dint work for me. I would struggle with historical events and or sometimes it would be a little hard for me to understand the questions so my essay would be a little off topic. (or maybe a lot). Rhetorical essay was probably the easiest for me because the answers to the essay were right in front of me (even though i used baby devices) it was easier for me to organize it.

My favorite novel was The Crucible. It was very easy to understand and I LOVED the activities we did to understand it more. I disliked In Cold Blood. Wasnt my of book and i wasn't feeling it lol.

Mr. Thomas you are probably one of the best teachers I've had through out my high school year so far. You're very funny and know how to teach. Who ever haves you as a teacher next year will be very lucky. We will miss you so and ill try to be your TA. May the for be with you!!!!

I carry many things with me physically, mentally, and emotionally. I carry tears, memories, goals, and many other things.

A physical thing that I always carry is my cell phone. I love my cell phone I honestly don't know what I would do with out it. I communicate with everybody using my cell phone. I contact my parents, my teachers, family, friends, and other people. Its like my phone knows me, how I am, its like a bestfriend. My phone keeps me updated with school, gossip, almost everything!

One of the goals I carry is becoming a lawyer when grow older. I want to be one of the best lawyers in America. help accomplish goals for others. Goals that I set for my life are to help my mom with what ever she needs. help my dad in Colombia and all my family down there. I want to help those in need, special kids, and last but no least the poor. I want to be involved with politics. My teachers are one of the few who push to do better and chase my dreams.

My Martha would be Sofia Vergara. She is very beautiful and started from the bottom and she's clearly here now. (laugh out loud)  Sofia Vergara is from Colombia and she's a very successful person. She makes her dreams and others dreams come true. She is involved in almost everything. My older sister would also be consider my Martha. I lobe her so much. She's done so much for me I really appreciate it. She sets standards for me and cares a lot for me.

Three adjectives that come to mind when I think of my self would be stubborn, bossy, and very talkative. I want to be my self lol. I would like to be a lawyer. One of the most known lawyers in this world. Others think I am very hard working person, nice, kind, crazy, and outgoing. My personality is very out going it has taking me very far in life so far. My personality got me my jobs and friends.

All my memories shape me honestly. My memories made me a bigger and better person today. All my memories are ones to remember.

What are 5 things that Poe does in his story that you, a good follower of the genre, would copy?  How would you use them?

Want a challenge?  After you've done your five things- what are 2 things you would do differently?

Poe uses many strategies in his novel "The House Of Usher" to create a setting that will capture that readers attention. He uses symbolism, a strong use of tone, imagery, allegory, and allusion. The House of Usher is a very nice novel to read because it will teach the reader rhetorical way of use and also entertain the reader and leave one hanging.

Poe uses symbolism in this story. The house symbolizes the terror and mystery inside of it. Poe use of words to describe the house is very descriptive and interesting. Also as we all know, this awesome writer use of imagery makes me want to sit down and write an essay with only imagery. (only if I could I would) Describing the actions of the narrator and Usher makes one want to be there on the scene and see everything live.

Mr. Poe use of allusion is also important to us. The type of cultural references, the music (because I watched some clips), the literature, and religion indicate what kind of man he is and help portray how he feels.

Edgar Allan Poe is a great writer there is really nothing I would do differently because in reality I would do and use everything he does so my writings would be better. But if I was forced to do something differently I would most definitely stop using so many details because I get the point.

Our USA nations obsession with finding faults in leaders is hurting our nation by causing problems with in each other, physically and emotionally, and with in the country. Its creating problems with other nations causing us to go to war and other problems. George W. Bush, the United States of America 43th president, is a leader in history that has been vilified and theorized as to what might have been a person that started war and "ruined things. Also Barak Obama is another leader that has been misjudged wrongly.

George W. Bush was blamed for starting with war with Iraq but no ones really knows why everything happened. People call him names, judge him for no reason and many other things. . He pulled out of the Kyoto Protocol which set requirements for 38 nations to lower greenhouse gas emissions to combat climate change, saying that abiding by the agreement would “harm our economy and hurt our workers.”

Barak Obama is also blamed for some of the mistakes made in the past and now. He get blamed for unemployment and financial stability. Americans get mad at him because they believe he should do something about the war with Iran.

Blaming these historical leaders doesn't help us solve any problems. But if we try our best to help them out we can try to stay away from problems.

Anti Heroe

Hey guys I'm here to talk about and describe two anti heroes. Ichabod Crane and Tate Langdon, a character in "American Horror Story", have many similarities and differences. They both play a major role in each novel and TV show. They're known for being strong in the inside but in reality they have weaknesses. Something that controls them both but wont admit to it.

Ichabod is very tall, dark, and not so handsome but Tate on the other side is very hot, pale, and strong minded. Attitude wise they are both very different. Tate isnt afraid on anything but Violet and he will do anything and everything to keep her around. Ichabod pretends to not be scared but in reality he is even scared of his own steps. He would do anything his landlords tell him to do. Mop the floors, watch the kids, repair the large hadron collider, he would be right there doing it.
As cowardly as he can be, Ichabod sure has a temper. At school, Ichabod whips his students and rules over them like a cruel tyrant:
In his hand he swayed a ferule, that sceptre of despotic power; the birch of justice reposed on three nails. (1.32). Long ago, in high school, Tate kills 12 students and they come hunt him down. He hurts many people in the TV series.

Ichabod is very greedy. He's mad with desire for wealth, power, and status. After all, the only reason he wants to marry Katrina is so he can strike it rich. Tate's greed is Violet he wont let anyone get close to her he fears to lose her, all he cares about is her.  Ichabod wants Baltus's wealth and he plans to get it by marrying his daughter. If Ichabod were just greedy, he could find any other way to get rich. But Ichabod specifically wants what Baltus has. Tate's envies Violet's dad because he thinks he's just the perfect dad in the world. He believes that Violet would leave him if her dad tells her to.

I am probably jumping from topic to topic but both of this characters have something in common that makes them different. I know that didn't make sense but if you think about it, they both want something they cant have, but would and will do anything to obtain it. Ichabod is more of grimy sneaky person than Tate. Tate doesn't care about what others think or feel.
